My wife Kellie and I have been serial entrepreneurs for nearly our entire lives. Our journey began with our first date in 1986, and we have been partners in both life and business ever since. Long before we launched The Smart Tarp™, we founded Vanguard Mobile and a successful sales and marketing consulting firm—businesses we still operate today.

         As parents and grandparents, we are driven by the desire to create assets that provide genuine value to our clients. Having spent decades in the marketing and media space working with roofing and exterior companies, we noticed a recurring pain point: jobsite referral marketing was limited, static, and outdated.

       

         That "aha" moment led to the birth of The Smart Tarp™. By combining our marketing expertise with our background in mobile development, we created a patented product and methodology,  designed to be a game-changer in a stagnant industry.

          Our path wasn't without its challenges. In our first season, we immersed ourselves in the chemistry of adhesives, the physics of ventilation, and the development of our own custom tools. While nearly 40% of our original customers reordered in 2023—a metric we are incredibly proud of—we remain obsessed with innovation. We have always been, and will always be, focused on doing it better.
